Boris Bórquez, Viviendo en Venecia, Italia, aprendió a trabajar una técnica de madera maché con la construcción de máscaras, la cual al regresar a Chile y fusionar esta técnica con otras que aprendió como coleccionista de juguetes, le resulta una línea de objetos inspirados en la juguetería de finales del siglo XIX. La técnica que hoy en día ocupa Boris envuelve distintas disciplinas tales como tallado, modelado, pintura e ilustración.
"Fue el afán de coleccionar muñecos lo que me llevó a fabricarlos. Luego de un sueño muy inquietante comencé a coleccionar juguetes curiosos y antiguos, para luego comenzar a buscar juguetes de autor, en donde conocí a los pocos exponentes que tenía Chile en esta área. Así me puse a confeccionar mi propia línea de juguetes, siempre con el sueño de restablecer la juguetería artesanal en Chile". Boris Bórquez es fundador de la juguetería artística Dalia Karü.
Cuellimangui (Pablo Abadía) is an artist born in Orihuela (Alicante), Spain, in 1985.
Boris Borquez, founder of the artistic toy studio Dalia Karü. In Venice, Italy, he learned to work on a maché wood technique with the construction of masks. When he returned to Chile and fused this technique with others that he learned as a toy collector. The result is a line of objects inspired by the toys from the XIX century.
The technique that Boris occupies today involves different disciplines such as carving, modeling, painting and illustration.
“It was my desire to collect dolls that let me to make them. After a very disturbing dream I began to collect curious and antique toys, and then I began to look for toys makers, where I met only a few exponents in Chile. That's how I started to make my own line of toys, always with the dream of re-establishing the handcrafted toys in the country”.
